Ingredients
185g (6oz) butter
1 tsp vanilla
3/4 cup sugar
2 eggs
1 3/4 cups self-raising flour
1/4 tsp bicarbonate of soda
2 tbsp milk
60g (2oz) walnut pieces
125g (4oz) dates
50g (2oz) glace cherries
cornflakes
Method
185g (6oz) butter

Method
- Cream together butter, vanilla and sugar until white and fluffy
- Add eggs one a time, beating well after each addition.
- Sift flour and soda together
- Add one third of flour to creamed mixture, fold in, add 1 tbsp of milk; add another third of flour and rest of milk; add rest of flour. Mix well.
- Stir in chopped walnuts, dates and cherries.
- Drop teaspoonfuls of dough into cornflakes, toss lightly.
- Place on grease oven trays.
- Allow room for spreading.
- Bake in moderate oven for 15 mins or until light golden brown
- Makes about 35
