Ingredients
40g poppy seed
60ml milk
185g butter
1 1/2 tbsp finely grated orange rind
275g caster sugar
3 eggs
105g plain flour
105g self-raising flour
60g ground almond
80ml orange juice
Method:
- Grease 22cm round cake pan
- Combine seeds and milk in a small bowl and stand for 20 minutes
- Beat butter, rind and sugar until light and fluffy
- Add eggs, one at a time, beating until combined between additions
- Transfer mixture to large bowl, and stir in sieved flour, almond, undrained poppy seed and juice.
- Pour mixture in prepared pan and bake in moderate oven for 45 minutes
- Stand cake for 5 minutes; turn into wire rack to cool
